Two early first half goals doom Pack
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Oct. 12, 2011) - The CSU-Pueblo men's soccer team couldn't overcome two early first half goals as they fell 3-0 to rival UC-Colorado Springs.
The Mountain Lions struck quickly when Mash Shaswar gathered a rebound shot from Taylor Ferguson to take an early 1-0 lead. Striking less that two minutes later Scott Kocel worked to get an open shot to go up 2-0 much to the delight of the stunned ThunderWolves.
The Pack worked to get back in the game but a second half goal by Matt Friesen halted the comeback.
Trason Merritt (So., Anchorage, Alaska) was close to cutting the deficit in the 71' but the shot hit the post and rolled away from any further danger. Jareth Thomas (RFr., Anchorage, Alaska) also saw his first career action as a ThunderWolf coming in the 68' in relief of Jacob Blum (Sr., Peoria, Ariz.).
The Pack will play host to Regis with a start time of 4:30 p.m. at Rawlings Soccer Complex. The event is also the "Kickin' Cancer" Pink Out game in support of breast cancer awareness month. Its game Sunday with Colorado Mesa will mark the team's "senior day".
