Kearney, Neb. (GoThunderWolves.com - Jan. 2, 2011) - After battling back and forth all night, the ThunderWolves men's basketball team fell 82-77 in overtime to Nebraska-Kearney.The thriller between the Lopers featured 17 lead changes as both teams battled to stay within reach of each other.
The Lopers went 3-for-3 in the overtime period from beyond the arc to keep the Pack on their heels as they fell one 3-pointer short of extending the game.
The Pack kept it close and had a chance to win the game in regulation but a baseline jumper by Drew Sankey with one second remaining sent the game to overtime.
The ThunderWolves were led by Kris Lawrie (Sr., Gardena, Calif.) who finished with 17 points. Daniel Pierce (Sr., Edgewood, N.M.) also finished the game in double figures going for 16 points.
Nebraska-Kearney was led by freshmen Mike Dentlinger who finished with a game-high 30 points. Two other Lopers finished in double figures.
The ThunderWolves return home Jan. 28 at 8:00 p.m. to host New Mexico Highlands as they begin a three game homestand.
