Turnovers hamper Pack in loss

Metro State's mastery of CSU-Pueblo continues.

DENVER, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Jan. 14, 2011) - CSU-Pueblo fell short yet again to Metro State Friday, unable to stop a now 14-game losing streak that dates back to 1998, falling 67-56.

Aside from the first two minutes of the game, which saw the Pack open up a 7-0 lead on the Roadrunners, the current leaders in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference standings, Metro State dominated.

The Roadrunners responded to the 7-0 ThunderWolf opening with an 8-0 run, taking the lead and never looking back.  Metro State outscored the Pack 37-17 throughout the rest of the first half, and went into the break giving up just two turnovers to the ThunderWolves, compared to 11 by the Pack.

The story of the game was undoubtedly turnovers, which translated to transition dunks for Metro State.  CSU-Pueblo committed 21 turnovers, compared to just 10 for Metro State, neutralizing a hot night shooting the ball by the ThunderWolves, who were 51.7 percent from the field.

With the loss, CSU-Pueblo, now 6-8 overall and 3-7 in RMAC play, will transition from the RMAC's top team to its lowest-ranked team, Regis, tomorrow night on the Rangers' home floor.
