Geist's hat trick helps Pack in 6-0 win

- The RMAC conference has been good to the Pack so far.
After losing four of their first five games to start the season,
the ThunderWolves have opened up conference play with an impressive
3-1 record.
The fury continued again Sunday afternoon with a six-goal
outburst against the Colorado Christian Cougars. Forward Dustin Geist (RFr., Durango,
Colo) scored three goals to complete the hat trick and
lead the Pack over the Cougars 6-0.
Patrick Markis (Jr., Tempe,
Ariz) made his second start of the season and turned in a
seven save shutout.
The Pack offense, that at times has looked shaky, put in its
largest goal output of the season so far with help from Robert Kinsey (RJr., Denver,
Colo), Chaz Hendrix
(So., Albuquerque, N.M.) and Ken Sherer (Fr., Pueblo West,
Colo.). Kinsey scored his second goal of the year off a
penalty kick in the first half. The penalty kick was called when a
Cougar player stopped an apparent goal with his hands.
Hendrix also took advantage of Cougar miscue when a foul was
called at the top of the 18-yard box to set up a free kick. Hendrix
drilled the kick through Cougar defenders before finding the back
of the net. Sherer would add a late goal to put the Pack up for
good.
The win improves the Pack to 4-4 overall (3-1 RMAC) and into
fourth place in the RMAC standings. The Pack will look to keep
their hot streak alive with a home match against Regis on October
1. The match is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Rawlings Sports
Complex.
