The CSU-Pueblo softball team completed a four-game series sweep
of the Fort Lewis College Skyhawks on Sunday. Game one the
Pack used a 4-run bottom of the sixth inning which was led off by
Lacey
Chesser (Fr., Oxnard, Calif.) who blasted her 9th
homer of the season, pulling the Pack within one at 3-2. One out
later, Carlie Lucas (So.,
Granada Hills, Calif.) walked, followed by Dannielle Oliva (Fr., Pueblo, Colo.) reached
safely on a error setting the stage for Reagan Best (Fr.,
Greeley, Colo.) who singled down the right field line,
scoring Lucas and tying the game 3-3. Kelly Purcell
(Sr., Las Vegas, Nev.) flew out to left field, allowing
Oliva to score what would be the winning run. The Pack would
get one more insurance run which would become the final score at
5-3. Justine Bosio
(So., Santa Barbara, Calif.) gave up 3 runs on 10 hits in
picking up the win to improve to a RMAC-leading 13-4.
Game two starting pitcher Kyla Nelson (So.,
Lakewood, Colo.) battled back and forth against Skyhawks
starter Jayme Fuller, allowing only one run on 4 hits and striking
out two in the complete game victory. Nelson improves to 6-5
on the season. The T-Wolves broke the scoreless contest in
the 5th inning on a RBI-single from Purcell, scoring Lucas to give
the Pack the 1-0 lead. One costly walked batter allowed Fort
Lewis to tie the game at one heading into the bottom of the seventh
inning.
With two outs in the final frame, Annalyse Garcia
(Fr., Frederick, Colo.), powered a single through the
middle of the infield, giving the Pack the victory, 2-1.
With the series sweep, the Pack is in the midst of a 5-game
winning streak and improve to (20-10, 16-8 RMAC). Next up for
the T-Wolves is a two-game series each with Chadron State and
Nebraska-Kearney in a Friday, Saturday series.
