Pack gets doubleheader sweep

Game 1: CSU-Pueblo 8, Fort Lewis 6
Game 2: CSU-Pueblo 2, Fort Lewis 1

The Pack softball team opened a four-game series with the Skyhawks on Saturday at the Rawlings Complex with CSU-Pueblo scoring two victories both in come from behind fashion.  In game one Bo Nuanez (Sr., Lafayette, Colo.) who was 2-for-3 with 5 RBIs blasted a two-out grand slam homerun in the bottom half of the sixth inning, her fifth of the season, to propel the Pack to score five runs in the inning in what would be the difference in the 8-6 contest. Kyla Nelson (So., Lakewood, Colo.) picked up the victory to improve to 6-5 for the Pack.

In game two Justine Bosio (So., Santa Barbara, Calif.) was given the starting nod and stepped up, not allowing Fort Lewis a hit until the fourth inning, later in the inning the Skyhawks would score their lone run.  Trailing 1-0 heading into the home-half of the seventh, Ashley Corrigan (Jr., Upland, Calif.) led off with a bomb over the left field wall, knoting the game at one apiece.  The homerun was Corrigan's first of the season.  The next two batters reached base safely setting up Nelson to come in as a pinch-hitter and needing to put the ball in play, Nelson hit a soft grounder to second base, allowing the runner on third to score, giving the T-Wolves the 2-1 victory.  Bosio picked up the win, her RMAC leading 12th of the season.

With the victories the Pack improves to 18-10, 14-8 RMAC.  The same two teams will finish off the weekend with another doubleheader on Sunday, first pitch scheduled for 11 am.
