The Pack softball team opened a four-game series with the
Skyhawks on Saturday at the Rawlings Complex with CSU-Pueblo
scoring two victories both in come from behind fashion. In
game one Bo Nuanez (Sr.,
Lafayette, Colo.) who was 2-for-3 with 5 RBIs blasted a
two-out grand slam homerun in the bottom half of the sixth inning,
her fifth of the season, to propel the Pack to score five runs in
the inning in what would be the difference in the 8-6 contest.
Kyla
Nelson (So., Lakewood, Colo.) picked up the victory to
improve to 6-5 for the Pack.
In game two Justine Bosio
(So., Santa Barbara, Calif.) was given the starting nod
and stepped up, not allowing Fort Lewis a hit until the fourth
inning, later in the inning the Skyhawks would score their lone
run. Trailing 1-0 heading into the home-half of the seventh,
Ashley Corrigan
(Jr., Upland, Calif.) led off with a bomb over the left
field wall, knoting the game at one apiece. The homerun was
Corrigan's first of the season. The next two batters reached
base safely setting up Nelson to come in as a pinch-hitter and
needing to put the ball in play, Nelson hit a soft grounder to
second base, allowing the runner on third to score, giving the
T-Wolves the 2-1 victory. Bosio picked up the win, her RMAC
leading 12th of the season.
With the victories the Pack improves to 18-10, 14-8 RMAC.
The same two teams will finish off the weekend with another
doubleheader on Sunday, first pitch scheduled for 11 am.
