COLORADO SPRINGS - CSU-Pueblo was ready to play, rebounding from
two heartbreaking losses on Sunday, the Pack erupted for 30 runs on
30 hits in a doubleheader sweep of the Mountain Lions of
UC-Colorado Springs, winning game one 14-4 before finishing the
home team 16-1 in the final game of the series. Game two
ended after 5 innings when the 8-run rule was enacted.
In game one the Pack used a big 5th inning to come back from a
4-2 deficit. Carlie
Lucas (So., Granada Hills, Calif.) led off the inning
with a single, immediately after Dannielle Oliva (Fr., Pueblo, Colo.) belted
her third homer of the season tying the game at four. Later
in the inning with only one-out Lacey
Chesser (Fr., Oxnard, Calif.) blasted a grand slam
homerun to center field improving her freshman resume with her 5th
homer and giving her 20 RBI's on the season.
The Pack finished off by collecting three more runs each in the
final two innings to close out game one. Justine
Bosio (So., Santa Barbara, Calif.) improved to 11-2 on
the year.
In the series finale the Pack bats as well as the pitching
remained hot. Kyla
Nelson (So., Lakewood, Colo.) picked up the win,
allowing only one run on seven hits to improve to 3-5 on the
season. In the victory the T-Wolves lineup had five starters with
at least two hits in the contest to make quick work of the Mountain
Lions.
With the series split the T-Wolves improve to 12-8 and 8-6 in
RMAC play. They will look to remain on their winning ways as
they remain on the road to face off against the Mesa State
Mavericks next Saturday and Sunday in Grand Junction, Colo.
First pitch is slated for Saturday at 12 pm.
