Game 1: CSU-Pueblo 6, No. 8 Metro State 4
Game 2: No. 8 Metro State 2, CSU-Pueblo 1
DENVER - CSU-Pueblo split a doubleheader with eighth-ranked
Metro State Monday, claiming a 6-4 win before falling 2-1 in a
squeaker in the final game.
The ThunderWolves were able to rally from a 2-0 deficit in the
first game to explode for six runs over two innings and using
effective pitching to ice the game.
In the fourth inning, a two-run double by Carlie Lucas
(So., Granada Hills, Calif.) tied the game at 2
apiece. In the fifth, an RBI single by Bo Nuanez
(Sr., Lafayette, Colo.) gave the Pack the lead, and a
two-run double by Justine Bosio (So., Santa Barbara,
Calif.) broke the game wide open. After a four-run
fifth, CSU-Pueblo had a 6-2 lead.
Metro State threatened to come back in the bottom of the 7th
inning, cutting the lead to 6-4 with only one out in the
inning. But Bosio, who excelled in the circle for the
ThunderWolves, held the Roadrunners in check to earn her
RMAC-leading 10th win of the season. So far this season,
Bosio is 10-1 with a 1.47 ERA, both tops among RMAC pitchers.
In the second game, a stellar effort by Kyla Nelson
(So., Lakewood, Colo.) in the circle, allowing just two
runs on six hits, was undone by an even better day by Metro State
pitcher, Julia Diehl. CSU-Pueblo managed just four hits, with
a one-run fifth by the Roadrunners proving to be the difference in
the nightcap.
CSU-Pueblo (12-6, 8-4 RMAC) will get little rest as it returns
home for a mid-week doubleheader with Adams State Wednesday at 2
p.m.
