CSU-Pueblo 80, Western State 65
GUNNISON, Colo. - CSU-Pueblo concluded its regular season
Saturday in workmanlike fashion, posting an 80-65 win over Western
State, ending their regular season on a high note entering the RMAC
Playoffs Tuesday.
The ThunderWolves were very efficient against the Mountaineers,
shooting 58.5 percent from the floor, and over 65 percent in the
second half, besting Western State in every facet of the game.
The Pack excelled setting up scores, evidenced by its 19 team
assists, out-boarded Western State 30-27, and sank nine
three-pointers, two of which coming from Chris Busch (Sr.,
Oakland, Calif.), who led all scorers with 19 points and
nine rebounds. Marc Williams (Sr., Seattle,
Wash.) also added 17 points and added a career-high five
assists.
The ThunderWolves' performance looks even more impressive
considering the Pack spotted the Mountaineers a 6-0 advantage to
start the game. But the T-Wolves responded with an 11-5 run
to take the lead and never look back. The Pack brought a
four-point lead into the break and eventually extended that
advantage to double-digits near the close of the second half.
CSU-Pueblo will travel to Grand Junction, where it was Friday
night, to take on the top-seeded Mesa State Mavericks Tuesday night
in an RMAC Quarterfinal matchup. Last season, CSU-Pueblo also
played at Mesa State in the RMAC Quarterfinal, claiming a road
playoff win.
