ThunderWolves overrun by Mustangs

Early drought, Mustang hot streak buries ThunderWolves.

SILVER CITY, N.M. (GoThunderWolves.com - Dec. 17, 2010) - CSU-Pueblo fell hard and fast to Western New Mexico, only leading for 29 seconds Friday as the Pack fell 77-59 to the Mustangs.

After Mykael Thompson (Jr., Dodge City, Kan.) buried three for the Pack's first points inside of the first minute, Western New Mexico used a 7-2 run, one of many Mustang scoring spurts on the night, to establish a lead it wouldn't lose.

The Mustangs led by as much as 23 points in the first half, and held a double-digit lead for the final 30 minutes of the game.  The main reason for their dominance was their strong night shooting the ball, hitting 49 percent of their shots, and 12 three-pointers, shooting from a 39 percent clip from beyond the arc on the night.

The night marked the first career double-double for Kris Lawrie (Sr., Gardena, Calif.), who went for 12 points and 11 rebounds, but little other bright spots existed for the ThunderWolves.

CSU-Pueblo (4-5, 1-4 RMAC), now having lost three straight RMAC games, will try to right the ship Saturday when they travel to New Mexico Highlands.
