The CSU-Pueblo men's soccer team continued it's hot conference
start with a 4-0 victory over Adams State sunday afternoon. The win
improves the Pack's RMAC conference record to 4-2 and 5-5 overall.
They remain in fourth place in the conference with the win.
The Pack constantly pressured Grizzlies goalkeeper Paul Pizza,
firing 22 shots on goal. Robert Kinsey
(RJr., Denver, Colo.) tallied two goals on the day with two
more goals coming from Jonathan
Hall (Fr., Anchorage, Alaska) and Dustin Geist
(RFr., Durango, Colo.).
The first goal of the game came only eight minutes into the
contest when forward Jordan Hanson (Jr.,
Puyallup, Wash.) sent a cross through the box finding Kinsey wide
open for a goal. Hall would also collect his first career
collegiate goal in the first half off a flick from Geist,
that Hall buried in the upper right corner.
Kinsey would strike again early in the second half off a
feed from Alex
Zemach (So., Durango, Colo.) that found Kinsey alone
again in front of the net. The forward would calmly tap the ball in
the net for his second goal of the game. Geist joined in on the
scoring fun and added some insurance for the Pack to put them up
for good 4-0.
"There were great individual performances today, but most
importantly I think we got a better team effort, and that's what
I'm most satisfied with," Coach Roy Stanley said.
Goalkeeper Patrick
Markis (Jr., Tempe, Ariz.) made his third start of
the season for the Pack and consequently posted his third shutout
of the season. So far in the Pack's five wins this season all of
them have been shutouts.
The Pack will look to continue their RMAC conference terror when
they travel to play #3 Colorado School of Mines. Mines currently is
leading the RMAC as well. The game is scheduled for October 8 at
3:30 p.m.
