NCAA Division II Central Region Championship: Mesa State 10,
CSU-Pueblo 6
DENVER, Colo. - A down 7th inning undid CSU-Pueblo's magical run
in the Central Region Tournament Sunday as the Pack fell 10-6 to
Mesa State in the Central Region Championship game.
Mesa State rallied from a 6-3 deficit to hang seven runs on the
ThunderWolves in the 7th inning, giving the Pack just one inning to
make up the four run disadvantage. Aside from that inning,
where the Mavericks put up seven runs on six hits, the
ThunderWolves held Mesa State to just four hits in the game.
The ThunderWolves ended their 2009 campaign with a 30-20 record,
winning 60 percent of its games, its third-highest single season
winning percentage in school history. The ThunderWolves also
claimed two wins in the NCAA Division II national tournament, its
first two tournament wins in school history.
