Game
1: CSU-Pueblo 1, Western N.M. 6
Game 2: CSU-Pueblo 10,
Western N.M. 1 - 5 innings
The CSU-Pueblo softball team battled to a split with the
Mustangs of Western New Mexico losing the first game 6-1, but
coming back strong with a 10-1 finish in five innings in game two.
Game one started sour as Western N.M. put up two runs to start
the game of CSU-Pueblo starter Kelsey
Swanberg (Sr., Arvada, Colo.).
In the top of the 3rd the Pack struck as Janine Tyler
(Sr., Pueblo, Colo.) belted a solo shot
over the left field wall to put the T-Wolves on the board.
That was all the Pack would get losing 6-1. With the loss Swanberg
falls to 7-6.
In the finale, the Pack got all the runs they needed in the
third inning as they connected on 10 runs on 8 hits and 2 Mustang
errors to take a 10-1 and would stay that way the remainder of the
shortened 5-inning game. The game was highlighted with a
flurry of hits as Tyler and Kelly Purcell
(Jr., Las Vegas, Nev.) each went 3-for-3
with 2 runs. CSU-Pueblo outfielder Ashley
Aldrich (Sr., Sahuarita, Ariz.)
continued her hot hitting from last weekend to get four more RBI's
to have a team leading 44 RBI's on the year.
The Pack (27-15, 21-11 RMAC) still is only percentage points
behind RMAC West Division leader Adams State. The Pack will need to
win the final two games of the regular season and have Adams State
drop one of their final games as well to clinch the RMAC West
Division title. First pitch on Sunday is slated for 11 am.
