The CSU-Pueblo softball team couldn't overcome the dominating
play of 18th ranked Colorado Mines, getting swept in a
weekend series in Golden, Colo.
On Saturday the Pack lost 10-3 in the opening game of the
weekend series and lost 7-6 in the nightcap. On the day the
T-Wolves were led offensively by Kelly
Purcell (Jr., Las Vegas,
Nev.) who was 3-5. Justin
Bosio (Fr., Santa Barbara,
Calif.) suffered her second loss on the season.
Sunday the Orediggers took game one by a score of 8-2 and
finished up game two in five innings with a shutout win, 9-0.
In game one the Orediggers used a five-run second inning to
increase its lead to 6-0 after two innings. A trio of
T-Wolves led the team in game with one two hits a piece.
Game two was all Orediggers, who was shut out on a one-hitter
from the Mines solid starting pitching. Amber
Higby (Sr., Pueblo, Colo.)
took the loss, her fourth of the year.
The Pack will look to bounce back next week on their home opener
taking on Nebraska-Kearney on Saturday at noon and Sunday
doubleheader scheduled to start at 11 am.
