COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Oct. 10, 2018) - Senior Marcelo Laguera (Chihuahua, Mexico) of the Colorado State University-Pueblo men's cross county program claimed his second Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Runner of the Week award Wednesday, in an announcement by the conference office.
Laguera was also honored Sept. 19 as the top runner in the league. This season he has two event wins and a runner-up.
Laguera finished second at the Lewis University Conference Crossover Saturday, which featured nine nationally ranked teams. Laguera clocked a time of 24:35.70 in the 8K race and finished just two seconds behind the winner (who was named USTFCCCA National Runner of the Week). He ran a 3.04/K pace. His total time established a new career-best on an 8K course. Laguera guided the then-No. 7 ThunderWovles to a fifth-place finish in a field of 27 teams.
The Pack dropped from No. 7 to No. 10 today in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll. The next meet for CSU-Pueblo is the RMAC Championships Nov. 3 in Arvada, Colorado.
