INDIANAPOLIS (July 12, 2016) – FANS! Vote now for Colorado State University-Pueblo's Derrick Williams (So., Columbia Falls, Mont.) in the 3rd Annual NCAA Elite 90 Fan Favorite Contest. The contest gives fans the chance to vote for their favorite Elite 90 Award winner from the 2015-16 academic year.
Williams was named the Elite 90 winner at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships in May. He owns a 3.99 GPA in biomedical science and exercise science. The sophomore was also named a CoSIDA Academic All-America, the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Academic Runner of the Year and academic first team all-conference following both the cross country and outdoor track and field seasons. He was a U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Academic Team after the cross country season.
Voting Rules: Fans do not have to register, but can only vote once per day per computer. Voting totals reset after each round.
First Round: Tuesday 7/12 at 10am ET until Friday 7/15 at 8pm ET
Semifinals: Monday 7/18 at 10am ET until Tuesday 7/19 at 8pm ET
Finals: Wednesday 7/20 at 10am ET until Thursday 7/21 at 8pm ET
Winner celebrated: Friday 7/22
The Elite 90 award, founded by the NCAA, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. The Elite 90 is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships.
