COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (October 6, 2015) - Following a first place finish Saturday at the Roadrunner Invitational, Colorado State University-Pueblo's Bailey Hughes (Jr., Bigfork, Mont.) has been named Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Cross Country Women's Runner of the Week, announced Tuesday by the league office.
Hughes guided the CSU-Pueblo women's team to a team time of 1:58:32 and a win at the Roadrunner Invitational Saturday. Her time of 22.30.6 led a field of 51 runners for her second event win of the season. Her average mile in the 6K race was 6:02.2.
She also won the 4K Boarder Classic Sept. 11.
The award marks the second time this season Hughes has received runner of the week accolades from the RMAC (Sept. 15).
The women's cross country team was ranked No. 5 in today's release of the U.S. Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association South Central Region rankings. The men's team entered the top 10 for the first time since returning as a program last season. They earned the No. 9 spot.
Both Pack cross country teams are back in action Saturday, competing in the Fort Hays State Invite in Hays, Kansas.
