Craig Binkley Named Inaugural Cross Country Coach

PUEBLO, Colo. - Colorado native Craig Binkley has been named the first women's cross country coach in Colorado State University-Pueblo history, Director of Athletics Joe Folda announced today. ThunderWolves' cross country will enter its first season of competition in the Fall, along with women's golf.

Binkley comes to Pueblo as an accomplished assistant coach and former student-athlete. Most recently, he was posted at Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D., where he also earned his bachelor's degree.

While coaching at Augustana, Binkley was responsible for recruiting the Colorado and California regions, and training all distance runners in the Vikings' cross country and track programs. Both the men's and women's cross country teams earned top-25 rankings in 2004, a success he hopes to foster at CSU-Pueblo.

"Craig brings a wealth of experience to the program, both as a former student-athlete and a coach who has been a part of successful programs at our level," said Folda upon the announcement. "His energy and enthusiasm will help our program start off on the right foot."

Prior to coaching at Augustana, Binkley was a graduate assistant at Emporia State, where he also earned his master's in physical education.
