Denver, CO (GoThunderWolves.com - Nov 5th 2011) The Thunderwolves were back in Denver competing at the Central Region Cross Country Championship on Saturday. For the second year in a row, the team finished 19th out of 21 teams.
Ali Wolpern (So., Montgomery, Minn.) was, once again, the top finisher for the Pack. She finished with a time of 25:17 in 52nd place. Just nine seconds behind her was Hayley Lewis (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) in 56th place. Besides former Pack runner Lauren Dunsmoor these are the top two finishes at the Regional Championships since bringing back the program. Christina Lobato (Jr., Rocky Ford, Colo) had a strong year consistly finishing as a top runner for the Pack. She was the third overall runner for the team on Saturday, finishing with a time of 27:09. The teams stand-out fresman, Nicole Reveles (Fr., Gilbert, Ariz.)has been battling the flu all week. She tried to run but was unable to finish the race. Fellow freshman Morgan Lundt (Fr., Palmer, Alaska) had a strong showing completing the race with a time of 31:03. Jitka McGivney (Hermanuv Mestec, Czech Republic) has been imporving all season and finished with a time of 32:03.
Overall, it was a good season for the Pack with many runners setting new PR's. The team looks to be headed in the right direction and with no seniors on the team coach Chad Perry is optomistic about the returning runners for next season.
