Pack works out the 'Rust' in Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Sept. 10, 2011) - The CSU-Pueblo cross country team opened its season at the annual UC-Colorado Springs Rust Buster, and several runners turned in PRs in the first meet of the season.

Though no official times were reported, two ThunderWolves - Ali Wolpern (So., Montgomery, Minn.) and Hayley Lewis (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) finished in the top third (31st and 33rd, respectively), in the 94-person field.  Their unofficial times of 15:53 and 15:55 mark the two fastest times in a 4K race in CSU-Pueblo Cross Country history.

Overall, the team showed a 56-second improvement over last season when they ran at the Rust Buster.

With the foundation of this race in hand, the Pack harriers will return to Colorado Springs next week for its first 6K of the season at the Colorado College Invitational.
