Pack track athlete Lobato earns Fiesta Queen scholarship

CSU-Pueblo cross country and track and field athlete, Christina Lobato (Fr., Rocky Ford, Colo.), has been named the 2010 Colorado State Fair Fiesta Queen, and has earned a $2,500 scholarship to supplement her educational and athletic pursuits at CSU-Pueblo.

The 19-year-old from Rocky Ford, Colo. succeeds Daisy Mendoza as the symbolic ambassador of Fiesta Day, the Fair's most well-attended day.

Fiesta Day is a salute to Colorado's Hispanic heritage.

As queen, Lobato receives a $2,500 scholarship. 

Lobato was one of the Pack's top runners during the team's cross country season in the Fall, and the team's top distance runner during the outdoor track season.  She will be a sophomore next season, having three years of eligibility remaining in her cross country/track career.

First attendant of the Fiesta Day pageant was Taciana Torrez, 18, from Pueblo. Second attendant was Antonia Lira, 18, of Lamar; and Michelle Gonzales, 19, of Fowler was named third attendant.

With "Latinas Del Mundo" as its theme, the 44th annual pageant was held at the Sangre de Cristo Arts and Conference Center.
