Pack continues homestand against South Dakota schools

PUEBLO, Colo. (September 13, 2018) – Colorado State University-Pueblo Volleyball will continue its three-match homestand Friday when the ThunderWolves face South Dakota School of Mines at Massari Arena. The Pack will wrap up its homestand Saturday against Black Hill State University. Both matches start at 7 p.m.

Friday night's match will be YMCA Night at Massari Arena. All kids who show up wearing the YMCA youth jerseys will receive free admission.  Also, all YMCA members who present their membership cards will receive $2 off their tickets.

Pack Notes:

The ThunderWolves bring a 3-9 record into the weekend. They are 1-2 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play following a 3-1 (25-19, 19-25, 22-25, 21-25) loss to New Mexico Highlands University, Tuesday at Massari Arena.

Grace Hern (Fr., Omaha, Neb.)  recorded 53 assists in the loss to the Cowgirls. Hern's 53 assists were the most by a Pack student-athlete in a four-set match in six years. She has three double-doubles this season.

Sarah Vang (Jr., Parker, Colo.) knocked down a career-high 21 kills against NMHU. She earned her first double-double with the Pack thanks to 13 digs. Vang ranks sixth in the RMAC with 3.32 kills per set.

Brooke Schilling (So., Platteville, Colo.) ranks fourth in the RMAC with 0.37 aces per set. Her 16 total service aces lead the conference.  Schilling has four double-doubles this season after 10 kills and 11 digs in the loss to the Cowgirls. 

Libero Page Heller (Jr., Vancouver, Wash.) ranks seventh in the RMAC with 4.84 digs per set. Heller averaged 6.0 digs per set against New Mexico Highlands Tuesday. 

Grace Miles (So., Parker, Colo.) earned her first career double-double against the Cowgirls. Miles knocked down 10 kills and 11 digs.

Sophomore Mallorie Post (Federal Way, Wash.) achieved a career-high four blocks against the Cowgirls. Post is hitting .222 for the season with 2.40 kills per set.

Scouting South Dakota Mines:

South Dakota Mines brings a 3-7 record with them to Southern Colorado. The Hardrockers are 1-1 in RMAC play.

Dana Thompson leads the RMAC with 4.83 kills per set. She ranks third in D-II in kills per set. 

The Pack is 4-0 all-time against the Hardrockers. They won last year's meeting 3-1.

Scouting Black Hills State:

Black Hills State stands 3-6 overall. They are 0-2 in RMAC play.

The Yellow Jackets are the most blocked team in the RMAC. Opponents average 2.25 blocks per set against Black Hill State.

CSU-Pueblo leads the all-time series against Black Hills State 4-2. The Yellow Jackets won last year's meeting in five sets.
