Pack fall in RMAC opener

PUEBLO, Colo. (Sept. 15, 2017) – The Colorado State University-Pueblo volleyball team fell in straight sets to Colorado Christian University in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opener Friday at Massari Arena.

Senior Misha McDowell (Gilbert, Ariz.) and freshman Brooke Schilling (Platteville, Colo.) led the team with six kills apiece. Schilling added a team-best 12 digs. Senior Elena Michalski (Longmont, Colo.) finished with 24 assists and six digs. 

As a team the Pack (1-8, 0-1 RMAC) totaled six blocks to CCU's (3-6, 1-0 RMAC) four. CSU-Pueblo hit .161 for the match, while the Cougars posted a .228 hitting percentage.

The ThunderWolves finally found a rhythm early in the third set and led 8-5, but a 4-0 run by the Cougars gave the road team a 9-8 lead. The teams traded points all the way to a 23-21 Pack advantage. 

Following a timeout by CCU, the Cougars scored three straight points and would eventually win the set 26-24 to secure the three set sweep.

The Pack lost set one 25-17 and fell in set two 25-18.

The ThunderWolves will host No. 203 Colorado School of Mines Saturday at 7 p.m.
