PUEBLO, Colo. (August 10, 2017) – Colorado State University – Pueblo Volleyball will officially begin their 2017 season Monday Aug. 14 when the Pack student-athletes report to their first day of practice at Massari Arena.
Practices will be closed to the public. However, fans will be able to get their first look at the Pack in their Red vs. Blue scrimmage Saturday Aug. 19 at 5 p.m.
The Pack reached the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference for the third consecutive time in 2016. This was the first time they have earned a postseason berth in three straight seasons in program history.
Four starters return for CSU-Pueblo from their 2016 team including the Pack's leader in kills, Caitlin Broadwell (Sr., Lawrence, Kan.). Broadwell earned Second Team All-RMAC honors behind 3.34 kills/set, eighth most in CSU-Pueblo history.
The Pack also returns three setters with Elena Michalski (Sr., Longmont, Colo.), Kelsey Bell (So., Los Lunas, N.M.), and Paige Heller (So., Vancouver, Wash.) all back in the fold. Misha McDowell (Sr., Gilbert, Ariz.) returns in the middle for the Pack.
In addition to their four starters, CSU-Pueblo brings back four more returners from last year's squad. Six freshmen will make their Pack debuts in practice Monday.
The ThunderWolves will open their 2017 season on the road Friday Sept. 1 at the West Texas Tournament. CSU-Pueblo will meet Wayne State College Friday Sept. 8 in their home opener at 11 a.m.
