COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (November 15, 2016) – Three Colorado State University-Pueblo Volleyball student-athletes earned All- Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference honors Tuesday. The RMAC released its annual All-Conference teams and Pack outside hitters Caitlin Broadwell and Mariangel Perez earned Second Team All-RMAC Honors. Katie Burnett received Honorable Mention All-RMAC.
Broadwell (Jr., Lawrence, Kan.) has led the Pack with 3.36 kills per set this season. This total ranks as the eighth-highest single-season total in program history. Her 356 kills would place her seventh all-time. She has a career-best 1.75 digs per set.
The junior earned RMAC Player of the Week honors Monday following an incredible week where she had a career-high 25 kills and 17 digs at home against Adams State University. She followed it up with 20 kills and 23 digs in the Pack's RMAC Tournament clinching game against Westminster College.
Perez (Sr., Catia La Mar Venezuela) becomes the fourth player in program history to earn All-RMAC honors three times in a career (Samantha Connelly, Amy Little, and Deborah Hunter). As a senior, Perez averaged 2.80 kills per set and 2.93 digs per set.
In the CSU-Pueblo record books, Perez ranks fifth with 3.17 career kills per set. She stands ninth in school history with 974 kills, eighth in attacks (2,895), ninth in total digs (955), and eighth in digs per set (3.11). She has 42 career double-doubles, including eight this season. Perez earned First Team All-RMAC honors as both a sophomore and a junior.
Burnett (Sr., Austin, Texas) earned Honorable Mention All-RMAC after setting the school's single-season record for digs with 507. She has also averaged a Pack record 4.97 digs per set. Her 37 service aces this seasons stands as the second highest total in school history. She also set a school record with 35 digs in a match (Oct.1). Burnett received RMAC Defensive Player of the Week honors Nov. 7.
In addition to her single season records, Burnett has set the career digs record with 1,605 career digs. Her 80 career service aces ranks 10th. Burnett also ranks second at CSU-Pueblo with 4.06 digs/set for her career.
These three student-athletes will lead the Pack into their consecutive RMAC Tournament appearance Tuesday at 7 p.m. against Metro State University Denver. The No.8 vs. No.1 match will be held on MSU Denver's campus at the Auraria Events Center.
