COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (September 27, 2018) - Colorado State University-Pueblo Swimming & Diving was ranked sixth in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's Preseason Coaches Poll released Thursday.
The ThunderWolves return 11 student-athletes from last year's team that finished seventh at the RMAC Championships. Eight freshman will bolster the Pack's depth heading into the program's fifth season.
Among the returners for the Pack is Arianna Rohde (Sr., Anchorage, Alaska). Rohde holds six school records including every record in the back stroke. She set two records in the fly at last year's RMAC Championships. Rohde also earned a First Team Academic All-RMAC and Google Cloud CoSIDA Academic All-District accolades.
Phoebe Pontious (Jr., Caledonia, Mich.) holds two school records. She has the fastest times in the 50 free (24.22) and 100 Free (53.68). Pontious is also a former RMAC swimmer of the week.
April McDonough (Sr., Frisco, Texas) returns after sitting out last season. McDonough holds the Pack's record in the 200 Free (1:55.90) and 500 Free (5:09.24). McDonough also set four school records as a part of relay teams.
Senior Jade Irick (Idaho Falls, Idaho) will look for another solid campaign. Irick earned five top 5 finishes last season.
Eight freshmen will join the ThunderWolves for the 2018-19 season. These eight freshmen are Alexis Bower (Riverside, Calif.), Emma Chvatal (Carterville, Ill.), Cierrah DeWoody (Richardson, Texas), Alyssa Grunloh (Round Rock, Texas), Courtnie Lingaas (Brighton, Colo.), Madison Ortega (Pueblo, Colo.), Natalie Rotondo (Aurora, Colo.), Julia Whitfield (Wichita, Kan.).
Fans will have their first opportunity to watch the pack Friday at 3:30 p.m. when the ThunderWolves host their annual Red vs. Blue scrimmage at the Sam Jones Aquatic Center. Admission for this event is free.
