COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (September 28,2017) – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference released its annual preseason Swimming & Diving rankings Thursday and Colorado State University-Pueblo Swimming & Diving was picked to finish in a tie for seventh in the 2017-18 season by the RMAC Coaches.
The ThunderWolves will look to build upon their 2016-17 season where they went 2-5 overall in dual meets. CSU-Pueblo also won the Austin College Invite.
Phoebe Pontious (So., Caledonia, Mich.) set Pack records in both the 50 and 100 free at the RMAC Championships as a freshman in 2016-17. Pontious swam a school-best 24.80 in the 50 free. She also swam a record time of 53.69 in the 100 free prelims.
As a freshman, Pontious posted 13 top five times at CSU-Pueblo. In addition to her records set at the RMAC Championships, Pontious posted a program-best time of 27.34 in the 50 butterfly. She was named RMAC Swimmer of the Week Jan.11.
The Pack will open their season Friday at 3:30 with their annual Red vs. Blue scrimmage at the Sam Jones Aquatic Center. This scrimmage is open to the public. The ThunderWolves will open the regular season Friday Oct. 13 when they face Western State Colorado University.
