McDonough leads Pack to fourth place finish at Colorado College Classic

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (January 22, 2017) Colorado State University-  Pueblo Swimming & Diving claimed fourth place at the Colorado College Classic. The Pack finished with 438 points over two days of competition at the Schlessman Natatorium. 

April McDonough (Jr., Frisco, Texas) shined for the Pack as she won two events and took second in another event. On day one of the meet Saturday, McDonough won the 500 freestyle in a time of 5:29.14, two seconds better than the second place finisher.

McDonough secured a second place finish in the 200 free (2:00.47). In her final individual event of the meet, McDonough ended the meet on a high note with a win in the 1650 swim. She finished in a time of 18:54.86 to beat the field by five seconds. The Pack's captain totaled 64 individual points at the meet.

Stefany Busch (So., Carlsbad, Calif.) earned second place in the three meter diving competition. Busch finished as the runner up with 354.75 points. She also took seventh in the one meter diving with 329.40 points.

Sophomore Arianna Rohde (Anchorage, Alaska) scored 54 individual points for the Pack. Her best finish came in the 200 yard butterfly where she took fourth place in a time of 2:21.90. Rohde also came in fifth in the 200 IM (2:25.34), sixth in the 200 back (2:20.70), and seventh in the 100 back (1:03.38).
 
Western State Colorado University won the meet. The Pack defeated Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference foes Adams State University and Colorado School of Mines.

CSU-Pueblo will face the University of Nebraska Kearney and University of Northern Colorado in dual meets Jan. 27-28. These meets will be held in Greeley, Colo.
