PUEBLO, Colo. (November 11, 2016) – For the first time in November, Colorado State University-Pueblo swimming & diving will compete at home in the Sam Jones Aquatic Center when they host Adams State University Saturday at 1 p.m.
The Pack will try to earn its first dual win of the season against the team it earned the first dual win against a season ago. CSU-Pueblo defeated the Grizzlies 132-126 Dec .4, 2015 in Alamosa, to taste victory for the first time in program history.
Co-captain April McDonough (Jr., Frisco, Texas) helped the Pack to that victory last season with a win in the 1000 Freestyle (11:25.23). She took second in the 100 freestyle (55.96). McDonough also swam the 200 free relay that clinched the Pack's win. She added 13 individual points to the Pack's total score.
Sophomore Jade Irick (Idaho Falls, Idaho) earned her first collegiate win in the 200 freestyle against the Grizzlies a season ago. She beat the field by over four seconds with a time of 2:07.95. Irick returned later to help the Pack win the 200 free relay. She scored 11 individual points against the Grizzlies.
Arianna Rohde (So., Anchorage, Alaska) earned two second places finishes against Adams a season ago. Rohde has five second place finishes already in the 2016-17 season.
Freshman Phoebe Pontious (Caledonia, Mich.) will compete against the Grizzlies for the first time in her career. Pontious had two second place finishes against Colorado School of Mines Nov. 4. Pontious has two wins and three second place finishes already in her young CSU-Pueblo career.
Saturday's meet will be the second of just three home duals for the Pack. The ThunderWolves will wrap up their home schedule Dec. 10 against Colorado College.
