Swimming and Diving downed by Colorado Mines Friday

GOLDEN, Colo. (January 24, 2015) – The Colorado State University-Pueblo swimming and diving team took to the road Friday for its final Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference meet of the season. The ThunderWolves (0-8) fell to the host Orediggers, 160-35, at CSM Natatorium.

Colorado Mines took first place in all 11 events, but the Pack did post several top-three finishes.

Samantha Sannes (Fr., Torrance, Calif.) came in second by a narrow margin in the 200 individual medley, losing by under two seconds with a time of 2:16.89. Sannes also notched a second-place finish in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:26.17.

Magdalena Contreras-Gomez (Fr., Austin, Texas) touched the wall second in the 100 butterfly in a time of 1:02.05, while Emily Foster (Jr., Santa Barbara, Calif.) was outdistanced by just 2.13 to finish in second in the 100 breaststroke.

Leila Zijadic (Fr., North Vancouver, B.C., Canada) had the remaining top-three finish for the ThunderWolves, placing third in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 12:39.04.

CSU-Pueblo closes the regular season Saturday with a dual-meet at the University of Northern Colorado, beginning at noon.
