PUEBLO, Colo. (November 24, 2014) – The Colorado State University-Pueblo swimming and diving team competed at Adams State University, Saturday, falling by a final count of 132-84.
CSU-Pueblo (0-6) won one event against the Grizzlies (4-0) as Samantha Sannes (Fr., Torrance, Calif.) took first in the 1650 freestyle in a time of 18:40.56. The freshman outdistanced second-place finisher Melissa Lopez of Adams State by just under two seconds. Sannes has now won five events this season. The Torrance, Calif., native placed third in the 100 individual medley with a mark of 1:07.51.
Emily Foster (Jr., Santa Barbara, Calif.) recorded a pair of second-place finishes for the ThunderWolves. Foster touched the wall in 32.98 in the 50 breaststroke and in 1:12.35 in the 100 breaststroke.
CSU-Pueblo had a quartet of swimmers place third in at least one event. April McDonough (Fr., Frisco, Texas) placed third in the 100 (57.99), 200 (2:05.20) and 500 (5:45.06) free. Sydney Anderson (Fr., Garden Grove, Calif.) earned third-place times in the 50 (30.17) and 100 (1:08.37) backstroke. Magdalena Contreras-Gomez (Austin, Texas) finished third in the 50 and 100 fly with times of 29.18 and 1:05.24, respectively. Taylor Wertz (Fr., Lamar, Colo.) clocked a time of 27.32 in the 50 free to earn a third-place finish.
Next up, CSU-Pueblo will head to Grand Junction, Colo. for the Colorado Mesa Invitational. The three-day event runs Dec. 4-6.
