COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (September 4, 2018) - Colorado State University-Pueblo women's soccer goalkeeper Rylie Martin (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) was named the first Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Week in 2018 after leading CSU-Pueblo to a 2-0 weekend on the road in nonconference play to begin the 2018 season.
The ThunderWolves went unbeaten during their trip to the Lone Star State to start the season. Saturday the Pack beat West Texas A&M 2-0 and wrapped the trip Monday defeating Lubbock Christian 2-1 Monday.
Martin was a brick wall during the opening weekend. Against WT, Martin made six saves and faced 13 shots by the Lady Buffs. She made consecutive saves in a two-minute span to preserve the win.
Against LCU, Martin again played solid at the net and allowed one goal and made five saves in facing a plethora of shots in the last five minutes of regulation. In the game, Martin faced 17 shots and six on goal.
The Pack are 2-0 on the young season and won their first two matches to begin a season for the first time since 2015.
CSU-Pueblo opens the home portion of the schedule this week and will conclude nonconference play Friday against Midwestern State (Sept. 7) at 7 p.m. and Sunday versus Fort Hays State (Sept. 9) at 12 p.m., both matches at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.
