COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (October 24, 2017) - Colorado State University-Pueblo women's soccer teammates Alexa Eastep (Fr., Henderson, Nev.) and Jessica Westhoff (Sr., Centennial, Colo.) each received weekly accolades announced Tuesday by league officials.
Eastep gathered RMAC Goalkeeper of the Week and Westhoff was named Defensive Player of the Week.
The ThunderWolves went unbeaten in their final road trip of the regular season. Friday the Pack was victorious 1-0 in overtime at Colorado Mesa and ended the trip Sunday at Westminster, coming away with a 2-1 victory.
With the weekend sweep CSU-Pueblo clinched a postseason berth for a second straight season.
Eastep made 13 saves and went unbeaten at goal in two road games for CSU-Pueblo. She held the opposition to a 0.47 goal against average and allowed one goal in 190 minutes. The freshman recorded a .929 save percentage and faced 31 combined shots in two matches.
Sunday against WC, Eastep stood tall in fending off three shots in less than one minute of game time to secure the win.
Defensively, Westhoff recorded two assists for the Pack. Westhoff assisted on both goals at Westminster.
She tallied her first dime in the 8th minute after taking a free kick and sending the ball to the top of the box which was headed into the net. Her second assist came in the 50th minute after a chip in to inside the box allowing her teammate to head in past the goalkeeper.
For the weekend Westhoff fired two shots and helped anchor the Pack defense holding the opposition to .032 shooting percentage.
CSU-Pueblo (7-6-1, 6-3-1 RMAC) returns home and ends the regular season Thursday at 7 p.m. against Western State and Saturday at 11 a.m. versus UCCS, both matches at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.
The match against Western will be the Pack's second annual RESPECT game. The game is to help raise awareness about being more respectful of all human beings regardless of race, sex, religion, sexual orientation, political views, etc.
Saturday Pack Head Coach Sierra Cardenas and her staff will honor the departing seniors playing in the final games as members of the Pack.
