PUEBLO, Colo. (September 13, 2017) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo women's soccer team wrapped nonconference play Wednesday versus No. 1 Western Washington, falling 1-0 to the Vikings at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.
Playing the No. 1-ranked team for the first time in program history and in the midst of playing five games in nine days, the Pack matched up well in the first half in scorching temperatures at the pitch.
Western Washington scored the only goal in the game in the 17th minute off a free kick from the top of the box, falling inside the near post for the goal.
The Pack fired one shot in each period and trailed 5-2 in corner kick attempts.
Pack goalkeeper Rylie Martin (So., Colorado Springs, Colo.) took the loss and made three saves on ten shots by WWU.
CSU-Pueblo (1-3) opens Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play this week and welcomes Fort Lewis Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Adams State Sunday at 12 PM to Gonzales Stadium. Both days the Pack play as part of a doubleheader with the men's team.
