PUEBLO, Colo. (August 14, 2017) - Colorado State University-Pueblo women's soccer head coach Sierra Cardenas was named to the United Soccer Coaches 30 Under 30 Program announced last week.
Cardenas was one of fifteen females selected from a pool of over 300 applicants nationwide and is the lone representative from the state of Colorado.
"The 30 Under 30 Program is something I feel honored and excited to be selected for," said Cardenas.
Launched in 2013, the United Soccer Coaches 30 Under 30 Program is a year-long education and mentorship opportunity for a select few up-and-comers who have made soccer coaching their career of choice. The United Soccer Coaches 30 Under 30 Program is designed to give participants exposure to membership, and the opportunity to take advantage of educational offerings, such as diplomas and the United Soccer Coaches Convention.
"The mentorship is an important part of the program but it is only one part! In addition to the mentorship, I will be receiving opportunities to further my coaching education with a scholarship to earn my Premier Diploma and attend and be involved in the 2018 United Soccer Coaches Convention in Philadelphia," Cardenas added.
While participating in the program Cardenas was paired with Jessica Clinton, women's soccer coach at Division-I Fordham University in New York. "We have been in touch quite a bit and I am looking forward to having her as a resource throughough this season and the school year."
The ThunderWolves opened the 2017 season Monday for first day drills and begin a three-game exhibition schedule Aug. 15 at University of New Mexico.
