Johnson finishes as runner up at Northern Colorado Open

GREELEY, Colo. (November 13, 2017) – Moving up a weight class this season, senior Cody Johnson (Broken Arrow, Okla.) finished second at heavyweight at the Northern Colorado Open Saturday, as the No. 7 Colorado State University-Pueblo wrestling team continued the 2017-18 season. 

Johnson went 4-1 at 285, which included two pin falls. He won by a 14-9 decision, then two falls (2:16 and 4:09) moved him on in the championship side of the bracket. He advanced to the final with a 7-1 decision before losing the championship bout by a 3-2 decision. 

At 125, Tanner Kuketz (So., Granbury, Texas) went 3-2 with two falls and a 5-4 decision. Both Preston Lauterbach (Jr., Bellevue, Neb.) and Josiah Season (Jr., Bonner Springs, Kan.) gathered two wins for the Pack.

Next up is the University of Nebraska-Kearney Holiday Inn Open Nov. 18.
