COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (January 31, 2017) - For the second straight week a member of the Colorado State University-Pueblo wrestling team has earned Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Week honors, as PT Garcia (R-So., Denver, Colo.) was recognized in a release from the league office Tuesday.
Garcia nabbed the honor one week after JaVaughn Perkins (R-Fr., 184, Omaha, Neb.) was awarded the weekly conference laurel.
Garcia went 3-0 at 133 for the No. 13 Pack last week, which included a pin in 39 seconds to help guide the ThunderWolves to a 22-21 upset of No. 2 University of Nebraska-Kearney. He gave up just two points in his three bouts and didn't allow a takedown. He won 3-0 in a match against Blake Dauphin of University of Central Oklahoma, who ranks No. 7 in Super Region Four (Garcia is No. 6). Garcia then picked up a RMAC victory with a 5-2 decision on Tyler Hanenberg at Western State Colorado University.
Next up for the ThunderWolves (8-5, 2-2 RMAC) is the RMAC Championships Feb. 4 at the Olymic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.
