ThunderWolves dominate Grizzlies with program record 24 goals

PUEBLO, Colo. (April 8, 2018) – Colorado State University-Pueblo Women's Lacrosse scored a program-record 24 goals in a dominating 24-1 win over Adams State University Sunday at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.

CSU-Pueblo's previous high of 20 came twice in 2016. The one goal allowed is also the lowest total ever allowed by the ThunderWolves.

The Pack earned its first Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference win. They stand 1-5 in conference games and 2-8 overall. Adams State fell to 1-7 (0-5 RMAC).  CSU-Pueblo held the Grizzlies to just three successful clears on 15 attempts.

Maxine Bartholomew (Sr., Elk Grove, Colo.) launched in a career-best four goals. Bartholomew added an assist for a career-high five points. She had two ground balls. Fellow senior Alix Zierden (Sr., Elk River, Minn.) also netted four goals.

Taylor Christensen (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) picked up five points with two goals and three assists. Christensen led the Pack with caused turnovers. She also secured five ground balls.

Leah Neumann (Sr., Naperville, Ill.) helped the Pack keep the ball with 10 draw controls.  The Pack held a 17-9 edge in draw controls. Neumann potted two goals and dished out an assist.

Kennedi Cantrell (Fr., Long Beach, Calif.) rocketed in a career-high two goals, Cantrell also earned her first career assist.  She scored on her both her shots on the day. Emily Eller (Fr., Keller, Texas) also had three points with a goal and two assists.

Allie Butler (Jr., Mission Viejo, Calif.) and Ali Doyle (So., Portland, Ore.) each had two goals. Olivia Tener (Fr., Boise, Idaho) and Allison Wurscher (Jr., Tigard, Ore.) both had two points with a goal and an assist. 

Hope Lambert (So., Pueblo, Colo.) scored her first career goal. Emily Brewer (Fr., St. Louis, Mo.) and Elyse Ingram (So., San Jose, Calif.) both tossed in goals to complete the Pack's offensive barrage. 

The Pack dominated the game from the start. Neumann got on the board with a goal 48 seconds into the game. They would score the games first 18 goals including a 13-0 lead at the half. The running clock started with 10:53 left in the first. 

CSU-Pueblo continued to pour it on in the second, scoring the first five goals. Adams State would get its lone goal midway through the second half. 

After the Grizzlies goal, the Pack went on another 6-0 run. They would close out Adams State with a 23-goal victory.

Ane Marie Horton (R-So., Long Beach, Calif.) made two saves on two shots. She earned her first win of the season. Alee Barrera (Fr., Palatine, Ill.) came up with five saves on six shots.

The Pack will continue their two-game homestand Saturday April 14 when they play Oklahoma Baptist University. Opening faceoff at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium is set for 12 p.m.
