INDIANAPOLIS (April 30, 2018) - Junior Courtney Ewing (Pueblo West, Colo.) will be representing the Colorado State University-Pueblo women's golf program as an individual at the NCAA Division II West Region Championships, set for May 7-9 at Hillcrest Golf Club in Durango, Colorado.
Ewing is the first women's player to earn a nod to the NCAA regional since Leina Kim was selected three straight seasons from 2013-15. She is just the fourth member of the ThunderWolves to gather an invitation to an NCAA regional as an individual, as Michaela Breit and Domi Dinallo earned bids in 2011.
The junior finished the season with a 74.79 stroke average to not only lead the team but rank No. 31 in NCAA Division II. She totaled 49 birdies in 19 rounds of play and will enter the regional ranked No. 58 in the Golfstat player rankings.
Ewing is coming off a medalist finish at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships were she tied for fifth at nine-over. She guided the ThunderWolves to a T-2nd finish at the Championships. Ewing was a four-time RMAC Golfer of the Week award winner this season.
She is familiar with the region course, as she shot her low round of the season in the second round of the NCAA West Regional Preview at the Hillcrest Golf Club Sept. 19, when she carded a 69 to finish the tournament tied for second at +2. In nine tournaments, Ewing finished top 5 four times and top 10 on five occasions with a top 20 placing in all nine tournaments in 2017-18.
