ThunderWolf Women place second, Ewing third at Farmers Insurance Samuel Proal Invite

PUEBLO, Colo. (September 5, 2017) – Colorado State University-Pueblo Women's Golf placed second at the Farmers Insurance Samuel Proal Invitational at the Pueblo Country Club. Courtney Ewing finished in a tie for third place for the second consecutive season.

With a team score of 613 (+37), the Pack posted its best ever two-day total at the Farmers Insurance Samuel Proal Invitational. Unfortunately for the home team it was not enough to earn them the win. University of Colorado Colorado Springs set a tournament record with a combined score of 604 (+28) to win the event.

Ewing (Jr., Pueblo West, Colo.) led the Pack with a +5 (149) over two days to continue her history of success at this event. She has now finished in the top seven at the Farmers Insurance Samuel Proal Invitational in each of her first three seasons.  

Ewing shot a +3 (75 ) on day two. She led the field with nine birdies and a -5 score on par fives.

Jolene Kam (Jr., Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia) placed in a tie for fifth with a +6 (150). Kam  bettered her score on day two with a +2 (74).  She ranked second with a +2 average on par fours. 

Orakorn Thirayatorn "Seven" (Jr., Meang Kan, Thailand), recorded an 11th place with a +10 (75, 79, 154) in her first tournament with the Pack. Fellow Dodge City Community College transfer Rachanok Rahulpan "Mint" (Jr., Pathumthani, Thailand)  claimed 17th place with a +17 (80, 81, 161).

Freshman Kellsey Sample  (Monument, Colo.) carded a +19 (79, 84, 164). This score was enough to earn Sample 22nd place in her first collegiate tournament.

The Pack returns to action Sept. 11-12 when they compete in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Fall Preview. CSU-Pueblo's first road trip of the season will take them to the Fox Hollow Golf Course in Lakewood, Colo.
