PUEBLO, Colo. (December 2, 2017) – Colorado State University-Pueblo Women's Basketball dominated Adams State University in an 89-55 routing Saturday night at Massari Arena. The Pack has now beaten the Grizzlies in each of the last 13 meetings between the two schools.
CSU-Pueblo made an incredible 52.3 percent of its shots from the field, almost doubling up the Grizzlies, who made 27.5 percent from range. The Pack made a season-high 10 treys, knocking down 45.5 percent from beyond the arc.
Molly Rohrer (Jr., Greenwood Village, Colo.) totaled 17 points to move into 13th place all-time at CSU-Pueblo with 1,033 career points. The Pack's center made 7-of-12 from the field and swished 3-of-3 at the line. She has now made 38 of her last 39 from the stripe. Rohrer swatted three shots in the win.
Lauren Heyn (Jr., Loomis, Calf.) scored 13 points in just 14 minutes of action. Heyn knocked down 5-of-7 from the field. She was also 3-of-3 from the charity stripe. Heyn hauled in six boards.
Taylor Long (Sr., Moreno Valley, Calif.) hit a trio of 3-pointers to finish with 11 points. Long secured five boards and came away with three steals.
Tuileisu Anderson (Sr., Vancouver, Wash.) matched her career-high with five steals. She tacked on 10 points, making 2-of-3 from deep and 2-of-2 from the line.
Khiya Adams (So., Falcon, Colo.) led the Pack with a career-high eight rebounds. She matched her career-high with seven points on 3-of-5 shooting from the field. Adams finished with a career-high four steals and two blocks.
Anderson went on an 8-0 run in the first quarter to put the Pack up 12-6. A Long 3-pointer gave the Pack a 15-6 advantage. The lead would remain nine after one as the Pack led 23-14. Heyn scored six points in the first.
In the second quarter the Pack took over. A 10-3 run to start the second put the Pack up 33-17. CSU-Pueblo went on another 10-2 run in the final 4:52 of the first half en route to a 46-24 lead into the break.
Chelsea Vallejos (Sr., Lamar, Colo.) had five points and three assists in the first half. CSU-Pueblo made 52.6 percent from the field in the first half.
Neither team found much of a rhythm in the third as both squads shot less than 30 percent from the field. The Pack outscored the Grizzlies 13-11 in the third to boost their lead to 59-35. Khiya Adams filled the stats sheet with five points, four rebounds, three steals, and two blocks in the third quarter alone.
The Pack did not slow down in the fourth. CSU-Pueblo made 7-of-11 from the field as they rolled to an 89-55 win. The ThudnerWolves won the rebounding battle 47-37. CSU-Pueblo handed out 23 assists, almost doubling their previous high this season (12).
Shelby Megyeri (Manitou Springs, Colo.) totaled a career-best eight points on 3-of-4 shooting, including 2-for-2 from deep. Megyeri tallied three rebounds and three assists.
The ThunderWolves wrap up their three-game homestand Tuesday night when they face New Mexico Highlands University at 5:30 p.m. This will be the Pack's last game in Massari Arena in 2017.
