NEW ORLEANS (August 1, 2018) - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced its annual team and individual academic honors last week and in the process recognized both the Colorado State University-Pueblo men's and women's programs, while 18 members gathered individual awards.
The Pack women carried a 3.54 GPA, while the men posted a 3.22 GPA in 2017-18.
All-Academic Team honors were given to programs with a 3.00 cumulative team GPA.
The men's team totaled 10 individuals, while the women had eight earn USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, which was given to student-athletes who compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and reached a provisional or automatic qualifying standard for the NCAA Championships in either the indoor or outdoor seasons.
Gathering honors for the men were Tevin Donnell (Jr., Fountain, Colo.), Michael Duran (Fr./So., Pueblo, Colo.), Shawn Horne (Jr., Camp Casey, South Korea), Marcelo Laguera (Jr./So., Chihuahua, Mexico), Orlando Mosley (So., Denver, Colo.), Paul Roberts (So., Boulder, Colo.), Jacob Smith (Jr., Strasburg, Colo.), Ron Sweeten (Sr., Falcon, Colo.), Dueth Vassell (Sr., Denver, Colo.) and Derrick Williams (Sr., Columbia Falls, Mont.).
USTFCCCA All-Academic award winners for the women were Nicole Bouma (Fr., Kalispell, Mont.), Lauren Fairchild (So., McKinney, Texas), Yasmine Hernandez (Fr., Johnstown, Colo.), Gillian Maness (So., Kalispell, Mont.), Jenna McKinley (So., Mosca, Colo.), Nikol Podlacha (So., USAF Academy, Colo.), Miriam Roberts (Sr., Boulder, Colo.) and Angelique Urenda (Sr., Pueblo, Colo.).
