Staines ranked No. 12 in the 800m in the world after performance at the Music City Distance Carnival

PUEBLO, Colo. (June 5, 2018) - Fresh off his second NCAA Division II National Championship in the 800m run at the outdoor national meet May 26, Colorado State University-Pueblo sophomore Thomas Staines (Colorado Springs, Colo.) traveled to Vanderbilt University in Nashville June 2 and ran the elite race of the 800m run at the Music City Distance Carnival. With the field littered with professionals and some of the top collegiate athletes in the nation, Staines won the race and clocked a time of 1:45.57 to rank No. 12 in the world in the 800m run. 

He was featured on FloTrack and DyeStat this week following his performance. Staines currently sits No. 19 in the world after a race that took place Sunday moved him down the list. For the full rankings, click HERE

Teammate Devundrick Walker (Jr., Aurora, Colo.) was also in the race and finished 12th overall with a personal best time of 1:47.91. He was seventh at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships to earn his second outdoor All-American honor in the event.
