AUSTIN, Texas (June 22, 2017) - Three members of the Colorado State University-Pueblo cross country/track and field programs were honored as College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America selections for their efforts in competition and in the classroom.
Senior Dante Carter (Las Vegas, Nev.) and junior Derrick Williams (Columbia Falls, Mont.) were recognized as Academic All-America First Team, while senior Sydni Riley (Florissant, Colo.) was named Academic All-America Third Team.
The honor is the second straight for Williams, as he was the first member of the men's cross country or track and field programs to earn the award. Riley is now the first member of the women's programs to gather the honor.
CSU-Pueblo had four total Academic All-America honors in 2016-17, as Corbin Feenstra from the Pack Football team was a first team member in November.
The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2016-17 Division II Academic All-America® teams program.
