Williams captures second All-American honor at NCAA Outdoor Nationals

BRADENTON, Fla. (May 27, 2017) - Colorado State University-Pueblo junior Derrick Williams (Columbia Falls, Mont.) gathered his second All-American honor at the 2017 NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships and ninth in his ThunderWolves career with a sixth place finish in the 5000m run Saturday.

Williams ran 14:17.14 in the race, just 24 hours after earning All-American recognition in the 3000m steeplechase Friday. He was one of three members of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference to finish in the top eight.

He now owns four outdoor All-American honors in his career.

With his fifth place finish in the steeple Friday, Williams totaled seven team points in the two events. CSU-Pueblo finished tied for 36th of 70 teams that scored at the championships.

The championships wrap the season for track and field and all teams in Pack Athletics.
