Williams recognized as RMAC Outdoor Academic Athlete of the Year; 13 total honored

RMAC RELEASE

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (May 15, 2017) - Junior Derrick Williams (Columbia Falls, Mont.) was selected as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Academic Athlete of the Year Monday, as the league office released its outdoor academic awards. Williams guided three others from the Colorado State University-Pueblo track and field programs on the Academic All-RMAC First Team.

Joining Williams on the first team were Dante Carter (Sr., Las Vegas, Nev.), Bailey Hughes (Sr., Bigfork, Mont.) and Sydni Riley (Sr., Florissant, Colo.). Nine more student-athletes gathered Academic All-RMAC Honor Roll laurels.

Williams was also the RMAC Indoor Track and Field Academic Athlete of the Year.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must carry a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (GPA) and must have been an active student at the institution for at least two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters.

All student-athletes that meet those requirements, but were not voted first team by the league's sports information directors, automatically qualify for the honor roll.

The ThunderWolves will learn which athletes will be attending the 2017 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships Tuesday when the selections are released by the NCAA.
