CSU-Pueblo softball set to unveil turf field Wednesday versus No. 15 West Texas

PUEBLO, Colo. (March 13, 2018) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo softball team will play its first true home games of the season Wednesday when they welcome No. 15 West Texas A&M Lady Buffs for a nonconference doubleheader starting at noon and at the same time unveil the newly remodeled turf field at Rawlings Softball Complex.

All fans will be admitted into the game free of charge. A'viands will have a lunch special featuring either a hot dog OR hamburger combined with chips and a drink for $6.

The ThunderWolves dropped three-of-four RMAC games last week at Adams State. The Pack scored a 7-0 shutout win in the series opener but dropped three straight falling to 5-7 in conference play.

In the opener each player in the ThunderWolves' lineup recorded a hit en route to the win. Sunday Pack sophomore Sabrina Felix (Corona, Calif.) went 4-for-4 in the series finale.

The matchup against the No. 15-ranked Lady Buffs marks the second time this season the ThunderWolves will play a ranked opponent. They fell 10-1 versus No. 9 Dixie State in February.


The ThunderWolves and WT last played in 2016. The Lady Buffs secured a 10-0 (6 inn.) win at the Dixie State Classic.


No. 15 West Texas A&M Lady Buffs (3-15, 0-4 RMAC)

            Last time on the field: WT played at Colorado Christian part of their Colorado-swing. The Lady Buffs beat the Cougars 12-6. WT is led offensively by Suka Van Gurp with a .500 batting average. In the circle the Lady Buffs are guided by Shayne Starkey (8-0, 2.30 ERA).
