PUEBLO, Colo. (April 28, 2017) – The Colorado State University-Pueblo softball team finishes the regular season schedule this week with a four game series beginning Saturday at noon at No. 11 Colorado Mesa University.
Entering the final week of the regular season, the Pack sits in a three-way tie with New Mexico Highlands and Adams State for the final two postseason spots.
The Pack return to the diamond after sweeping Fort Lewis in four games last week to close out the home portion of the regular season.
Lexie Martindale (Sr., DP, Pueblo, Colo.) slugged her way into the record books by hitting four doubles in the series opener. The homegrown product also went 3-0 in the pitcher's circle, tossing 10.2 innings and allowed six runs, four earned and struck out eight.
SETTING THE STAGE
Last season CSU-Pueblo went 1-4 against Colorado Mesa. The only win for the Pack came in the RMAC Tournament semifinals, a 6-3 Pack victory.
Colorado Mesa University Mavericks (38-6, 31-4 RMAC)
Last time on the field: CMU won 3-of-4 at Colorado Christian. The Mavericks are led by Brooke Hodgson with a .479 batting average on 67 hits. In the circle CMU relies on pitchers McKenzie Surface (21-4, 2.29 ERA) and Kimbri Herring (12-1, 3.32 ERA).
