PUEBLO, Colo. (March 4, 2017) – The Colorado State University-Pueblo softball team won its first two games of a four-game series versus Black Hills State Saturday at Rawlings Softball Complex. The Pack won game one 5-4 in extra innings and followed it up with an 11-0 (5-inn.) shutout win in the nightcap.

Black Hills scored their first runs in the fifth on a 2-run homerun given up by Kent and cut into the Pack's lead.
CSU-Pueblo carried a two run lead going into the final inning.
BHSU evened the score 4-4 in the seventh, capitalizing on a Pack error in the frame.
The Pack responded in the eighth inning with three hits including the game winning single by Moreno past the first baseman, scoring pinch runner Hailey Bennett (Fr., Norco, Calif.) from second base.
In game two CSU-Pueblo used a 6-run second inning to put away the Yellow Jackets.
The ThunderWolves jumped to an early 3-run lead after one, scoring on a pair of sacrifice flyouts and only one hit, taking advantage of three walks issued in the inning.
The big scoring second inning was highlighted by a grand slam homerun off the bat of Lexie Martindale (Sr., Pueblo, Colo.), her second homer of the season.
Moreno and Sabrina Felix (Fr., OF, Corona, Calif.) each earned walks with the bases loaded to account for two additional runs in the second.
CSU-Pueblo tacked on two more runs in the fourth inning on a scorcher of a homerun off the bat of Shelby Bennett (So., OF, Norco, Calif.), her first of the season.
Starting pitcher Shannon Lieber (Sr., Lone Tree, Colo.) picked up her first win of the year in throwing three innings allowing no runs on three hits and two strikeouts.
Martindale came on in relief to start the fourth inning and allowed the Yellow Jackets just one hit in two innings in the circle.
