LAKEWOOD, Colo. (February 19, 2017) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo softball team finished its nonconference schedule dropping a doubleheader 6-1 in game one and a 5-1 decision in the finale Sunday at Colorado Christian University.
The story of the day was runners left on base as the ThunderWolves left eighteen runners on base in the two games.
In game one, Sabrina Felix (Fr., Corona, Calif.) went 2-for-4 at the plate and smacked her second double of the season down the left field line in the Pack's first at bat breaking the ice at Lakewood Sports Park.
Lexie Martindale (Sr., Pueblo, Colo.) started in the circle for the ThunderWolves and sat down Colorado Christian in order in the first inning, quickly getting the Pack back on offense.
Senior Moriah Turney (Brighton, Colo.) led off the top half of the second inning with a single to left centerfield. She advanced to second in the next at bat on a sacrifice bunt and scored on a single from Kennedy Smith (Sr., Fillmore, Calif.) down the left field line.
In the home half of the third, following a lead-off triple and a bases loaded situation, Martindale worked her way out of the jam, earning a called strike three on the hitter to end the scoring threat.
The Pack held the single-run lead heading to the bottom of the fourth when CCU bats were awoken. The home team took their first lead in the inning, scoring six runs on seven hits building a 6-1 lead.
